QFBA Rag – 2007-8 Week Four

Runners Get Two Cracks at Arenas-less ‘Bus and Fail!

This one definitely falls into the better to be lucky than good category. Arenas goes down for at least three months, the Runners tie the weekly high score at 158 and can’t claim a win. Onto the tie breaker, it comes down to Williams VS. McGrady and ‘Bus grabs the Dubya 153-135.

It’s a tough loss for Coach Hayduke to swallow, what with three players barely cracking 20 in the OT, including usual stud Stoudemire at 21. Add to the mix 54 from Howard and 48 from Bosh and StinkyBus wins with 4 players, setting up next week’s showdown with Reddicks.

Chief Catches Break

If it was anyone else, I might say the Chief is living right but we all know better. Just the same, on a week when 5 other teams outscored Chief Flap-‘is-Jaws (unless you count Incubus who outscored him twice), Chief draws the struggling expansion team SeaGals and pads his stats. The Chief is doubly lucky to have survived a major coaching blunder when he opted to start Aldridge for Okafor, who scored 37 to Aldridge’s 9.

I do want to give rookie Coach Malini her props though, for trying to improve her team. Dropping Andrea (dumb chick name) Bargnani for former Jazzman Mo Williams was a nice move. It may be too late and there may be two few quality players left on the free agent list for SeaGals to do much damage now but it would be nice to see them grab a win or two anyway.

‘Bugz Survive against Struggling Bloopers

Coach S endured 14 from Kidd, 24 from Martin and 22 from West and still managed to grab the Dubya behind 52 and 41 from Ming and Nowitzki. Speaking of living right, Coach S needed this one and the Dubers obliged with 3 players turning in sub-twenty performances.

Coach J-Dub has to be disappointed at Wade’s 26 in his first fantasy game of the season especially considering that it was his team’s 2nd best performance of the week. Still, with Wade getting acclimated again and James morphing into a triple-double machine, something tells me the Gubers will do some damage before this season is over.

Cap Makes Clutch Walk Plank for Trading Team

It’s hard to feel too back for the Incubus Farm Team after the trade of McGrady for Gordon to the ‘Bus. McGrady’s 37 in place of Gordon’s 11 (yes, I said 11) would have given Coach Tobias the Dubya this week against the Cap’n, who tied for the top score of the week. Don’t worry, I have a plan, Coach Toby told this reporter. We’re waiting...

The Cap’n was less than thrilled at Boozer’s 25 when he’s generally good for 20 more than that but it didn’t matter much in the end. Don’t look now but that’s two weeks in a row that the Parrotdead boys have posted the high score or tied for the high score. After next week when Incubus knocks off the Chief and the Cap’n flogs ‘is kid, Cap’n Parrotdead will only be a game out of the lead with a lot of season still to go. Ain’t this fun?

‘Cruisers Learn Why You Don’t Draft a Rookie in the 2nd Round

After starting out like a house afire and even causing the Cap’n to soften up on the kid for picking Durant, he’s come back to earth and cost the Coach April a Dubya this week. It’s been a few games since Durant hit his 25 fantasy point average now that teams are beginning to be aware of him. Had he hit his average this week, the result would have been a win against a didi team that came up only 4 points shy of the weekly high score, despite 18 from Marion.

With the win, the didi’s move to 3 and 1 and tie Incubus for second place in the standings, despite a QFBA average of 20 points less than three of the 2-2 teams in the league. In fact, the didi’s are averaging less than all but two other teams, who happen to be in 9th and 10th place.

It’s all about the matchup but something tells me Coach LPGgoBoom may go up in a fireball at any time. Maybe their Week Five matchup will give the FrontRunners the break they so desperately need.

What kind of Yella BS is this? This is the most Homer-oriented BS I ever saw. Who is this Cap'n Parrotdead anyway?
