Carterless Clutch Slips Past Cruisers
After summarily dispatching Incubus and Jitterbugs to start the season, the FJ’s stumbled big-time in Week Three, dropping a 147 to 144 decision to the Incubus Farm Team. When Iverson came in at 50 it was looking like another drubbing enroute to a 3-0 record for the Cruisers. Then Durant showed why you don’t waste a second round pick on any rookie, coming in with only 15 fantasy points. Add 19 from Howard and 26 from Top Overall Pick Garnett and you have the recipe for an upset.
The question now is, can Clutch get another win now that his 1st and 3rd leading scorers have been called up by the Bigs? Time will tell. The only salvation in this lopsided trade is that McGrady is hurt, though that is likely to be only a temporary setback. Toby, you don’t work for Uncle-bus anymore, he can’t fire you!
Incubus Learns to Win and Lose at the Same Time
It was a solid, if not overwhelming performance from the current Incubus team but more than enough to clobber the didiget? boys. When you have but one player crack 30 and your worst player comes in at 14, it’s tough to get a win in this league. Incubus was paced by Arenas and Jefferson who both cracked the 40’s. I guess we’ll see how good the ‘Bus is week to week as players revolve through his door. This obsessive-compulsive behavior by the ‘Bus may well prove his undoing.
As for the Didi’s, they’re damn lucky to be 2-1 at this point. Unless this team explodes pretty quickly, I fully expect them to join SeaGals at the bottom of the standings. Hard to believe this former QFBA Champion has sunk this far but the answer to their perpetual question at this point is a resounding NO! Still, I could be wrong and that’s why we play ‘em.
Cap’n Glad to Sleep on Couch
The Cap’n gave Duber a good scare the other day when he announced that he beat his wife. Of course, he was referring to the 202-165 QFBA drubbing. Coach S is a bit upset to be 1-2 instead of 2-1 but the Cap says it was well worth it. It’s a very comfortable couch!
The Bugz got decent, if not outstanding numbers right down the line but it was going to take their best week yet to have a prayer against the high-flying Parrotheads. The Cap finally sent Okur to the bench and the team responded by exploding for the weekly high score. The Captain’s loyalty to the Turk cost him a 3-0 start. As it stands now, this may be the best 1-2 team in QFBA history. Watch out folks, this team is on fire. Ka-ching!
Coach Hayduke Gets Dubya Despite Obduracy
The Cap’n made a very generous trade offer to FrontRunner’s Coach Hayduke, which was summarily dismissed. This week Hayduke was lucky enough to slip by the cellar-dwelling SeaGals. When I say lucky, I’m not kidding, considering that there was only one other team he could have beaten with a 146 point score. You might want to re-think that trade offer, Coach, as 146 points ain’t gonna get it against Incubus next week. That Turky-glu has got to go!
As for the SeaGals, The Cap is feeling a little bad for picking on them so much in the past two weeks. Okay, choosing current bench dweller D. West in round three was certainly a pick-worthy move but give the rookie coach some credit for trying to rectify her mistake by shopping the free agent wire in an effort to improve her team. I feel so bad for her, I actually thought about trying to help her improve with a trade but, truth be told, they don’t have anyone I’d give up a player for! Next up for SeaGals is undefeated Rednicks. Go SeaGals!
‘Nicks Drub Dub
Coach J-Dub took a bit of a licking this week as Chief Flaps-‘is-Jaws cruised past the rookie coach by a score of 179-148. Rednicks were paced by Pierce’s 51 and saw Kaman match Kobe at 37.
Coach Dub has gotta be frustrated when James comes in at 34 only to follow that in non-counting games of 68 and 62 respectively. Had Wednesday counted instead of Tuesday, this would have been a Dubya for Dubber. With D-Wade back in the lineup next week, and 60+ potential from James, the ‘Bugz may be in trouble.
Sources tell this reporter that Incubus has been working the Rookie Coach pretty hard trying to steal D-Wade. What a surprise from the same coach that offered me Jermaine O’Neal for Boozer. Pah-lease!! Hopefully Coach J-Dubya has more sense than Tobias, who seems to fall for Incubus’ charms every year.
