Some folks can't figure out the new site.
I’ve heard from a couple of people that they don’t like the new web site. True, Yahoo was simpler but they didn’t have a game compatible with ours, which meant that someone had to extrapolate all the data and put it into a spreadsheet. That someone has always been yours truly, and yours truly, frankly, has better things to do these days. Cool? Good.
As for the complaints about the new site, some-a y’all need to get some internet skills, seriously. It’s just not that hard. Each tab has from two to nine options, which I guess could be intimidating if you let it, but there are only three things you really need to know how to do: set a lineup, pickup a free agent or offer/accept/reject trades. That’s it folks. All the rest is just extra fun. Seriously, if that’s too much for you to figure out, you should just move to a cave in Kazakhstan where you’ll never have to worry about that Information Superhighway thingie again.
Some of us love the site because there is so much data and a variety of reports and ways to look at what’s happening in the NBA and the QFBA. We can have a lot of fun checking things out and looking for a competitive advantage, which is why we call this a game in the first place. If you don’t want to do all of that, you really don’t have to in order to compete.
I personally feel that the added dimensions of getting 2 points for assists, losing a point for a turnover and the 10 player game have added more to the fun than I would have guessed. It takes a little more skill to compete when you have to go that deep into the NBA, which I guess is something else for some of you to be unhappy about.
That’s my two cents worth, now on to the competition.
Sorry, but yeah, the Cap’n is running away with the league. What else is new? Some of you have said that it’s because Cappy got the first pick and was smart enough to use it for Le Bron. Be honest, there are a few of you who would have picked Kobe or Carmelo or someone else. I mean, we have folks who do silly things like squander the 6th overall pick on Mehmet Okur. Can you imagine what that Coach would have done with No. 1 overall?
Remember too, it takes nine other players to win, folks, and the advantage of the No. 1 pick pretty much becomes a disadvantage the rest of the way. First overall means you don’t draft again until the last pick of the second round, long after guys like Gasol, Joe Johnson, Carmelo and Arenas were all gone. So, no more excuses ya whiner crybaby losers.
Since some of you don’t seem to grasp this, let me just remind you that Cappy had nothing to do with assigning the draft order. Maybe next year is your turn, Andrew. I hope you don’t screw it up. (Psst, just pick Le Bron).
I’ll admit to some luck, which is always a part of the game, like when Jackson got traded, making him the top scoring option at his new home and leaving Maggette the top scoring option at his old home. I couldn’t have anticipated that fortuitous turn of events but it’s all part of the game. Luck seems to happen to those who put themselves in position for it.
Hot on Cappy’s heels is Incubus, who, speaking of luck, has survived some hard luck. I thought the pick of Paul at No. 2 overall was wise given the added value point guards have now that assists are worth 2 points. It’s a shame he went down with a serious injury.
Arenas as Bus’ second pick was bright too, and Cappy would have taken him with the next pick if Bus hadn’t already snatched him up. Oh the joys of that last second round pick... Who knew he would be a gun-toting idiot? Still Bus sits at the top of the league along with Cap’n Parrotdead, despite losing the services of his top two picks. Kinda punches a hole in the whole “draft order is rigged” argument, doesn’t it Andrew?
Newcomers Tao of G and Big J’s Battalion have been fine additions to the competition. Big J sits atop the Central Division while Tao is hot on Bus’ heels for the final playoff spot. Not only can Tao play Fantasy Basketball, he’s a first class trash talker as well, and we all know that’s really what this league is about.
Shivermetimb has had his best year ever. He tells this reporter that it is primarily due to his new rule to never, ever trade with Incubus. Seems to be working.
After a slow start and, honestly, a dumb draft, StepOff has managed to get himself into contention for that final playoff slot. Right now it looks like it will either be StepOff or Tao to claim that spot.
Meatadors, Ballwashers, Isotopes, Boozers and The Replacements will all have to settle for the role of spoiler as we head down the stretch.
I’m not sure what happened to Ballwashers this year, as Dave Sisti is a former QFBA Champ and has always been a contender. I suspect that Golf Tourney in Reno on draft day really cost him.
Isotopes and Boozers were in it for a while before sinking hopelessly into the mire. As for Meatadors and The Replacements, you guys really managed to suck a big green donkey dick. Sorry if I’m being unkind but really, I couldn’t suck that bad if I tried.
With four weeks of competition left before the playoffs, Tao, Shivermetimb and StepOff are all trying to make their push into the playoffs. Jitterbugz is still in the running but definitely a long shot at this point. Personally, I think Mrs. Cappy has had enough success in dog racing this year that she can just be happy with that and leave the QFBA winning to me.
At this point, it looks like the only question left is, can anyone, I mean anyone at all, challenge the Cap’n for the title? All I can say is Good luck suckas.

Very insightful, Cap'n. You can see why we missed the QFBA Rag, given your brilliant writing, keen NBA mind and overall amazing ability to excel at everything. You truly are the cat's meow.
